Do Ambient Light And Circadian Cycle Play A Critical Role In Our Quality Of Sleep?

Since leaving my last job in 2004, I have been having serious sleep isuses. Prior to 2010 or 2012, the situation was so bad that I would stay awake for 40 to 50 hours straight and keep working on my computer with short rest breaks. Having dealt with this circumstance, I started studying circadian cycle based theory which the people in medical and psychological sciences use as one of the core factors in their discussions with the people suffering from mild to sever insomnia, and ask these sufferers of insomnia to change their lighting situation to try to see if that would help with their insomnia.

According to all of the articles on the Internet including Wikipedia and sleep disorder clinics, our ambient light dictates the circadian cycle which regulates the production of melatonin, and the whole of the cycle has a profound effect on the quality of our sleep. As I have been living in my room physically alone for over 21 years, hence, I had no objecting parties when it comes to my choices of lighting arrangement. Therefore, I changed the whole of my lighting setup. I installed a single 12 Watt bulb and even that behind a partition and kept the room lit to such a barely sufficient level that I could see all of the obstacles in my otherwise quite dark room clearly. As prior to the infliction of physical pain — now they have forcefully closed my eyes, and I am writing these lines with my eyes forcefully shut — quitting for the time being. Will add later.

As I had become an outstandingly efficient front-end developer, as well, therefore, while conducting this experiment, I did non stop at merely changing the ambient lighting situation of the room. I rewrote the CSS files for all of the websites that I was frequenting at the time so that the background color of all of my visited websites would be black and the text color would be around green and not a bright shade of grey. Hence, not only was I living in an almost dark room, even the background color of all of the screens was black, as well. None of it worked for me, nothing. As soon as I used to hit the bed, or used to lie down, some outside party used to fully recharge my system to an extent that I used to lose the desire to sleep and I would usually leave the bed again and start working or reading.

The circadian cycle stuff simply fails to withstand scrutiny. We now live in houses where the almost all of the rooms are quite brightly lit, and the occupants of these houses tend to move from one room to another where the rooms are almost perfectly evenly and quite brightly lit. The ambient light till their time to lie down remains almost consistent. Therefore, with the advances in our lighting arrangements or the state of our ambient lighting throughout our houses taken into account, how can we continue to preach the circadian cycle theory? I ran that test on myself for 3 consecutive years where I had barely sufficient light to see the obstacles in the room and all of my screens were black, as well; hence, the objectors will not be able to say that I was busy staring at a brightly lit screen all day long and it was interfering with my circadian rhythm.

I still have around 4 dozen, around 50, or so CSS files that I had written at the start of 2011 or 2012 when I first started testing the circadian cycle theory. I eventually switched to normal lighting arrangement at the start of probably 2016 as none of the changes that I made to my setup produced any beneficial or positive results. The modern ambient light setup completely shatters the whole theory behind the role of circadian cycle in our sleeping patters. If anyone would like to see those CSS files, just let me know. I probably did not use to have a single white light emitting website that I used to frequent. Feel like tackling this fallacy? I can forward you all of the proof and I kept myself in a dark room for 3 straight years with 0 improvement in sleep cycles; eventually, I reverted to proper lighting fixtures owing to the certainty that I had acquired by running that test that circadian cycle just about play 0 part in our sleep cycles.

As I have mentioned in one of my earlier paragraphs that when I used to lie down at around midnight to get a few hours’ sleep, I used to get this feeling as if some outside party had completely recharged the whole of my body and cerebrum, and instead of falling asleep, I would once again start to feel ready to commence work again. This was happening despite my use of or reliance on 5-HTP and Melatonin supplements. Although I had been aware of outside parties’ ability to interfere with people’s cerebral state since 8th grade, however, till the start of 2011, I had not known that they could cause chemicals to fail, as well. After the failure of 5–HTP and Melatonin supplements, my biggest shock came when my mother, who was ambulatory till 2015 and then became bedridden owing to a broken hip bone, bought a pack of 4 Red Bull drinks for me. At the time of conducting this experiment where I was investigating the efficacy of all of the sleep inducing and quality of sleep enhancing techniques simultaneously to make sure that I had made as many suggested improvements as I possibly could, I was a Gold Card Member of the local GNC chain. I had acquired all of the information related to Circadian cycle, production of Melatonin, and the role played by 5-HTP from articles written by people calling themselves experts in improving the quality of sleep and promoting tried and tested techniques. Not a single article on the subject mentioned the ability of extrinsic elements to completely stall the pharmacology of the suggested supplements and effects of the changes made to one’s environment. When I told her on Twitter that outside parties are busy badly manipulating my faculties and these outside parties can cause major failures of such chemicals and energy-enhancing concoctions, she simply went quiet, and if I am not mistaken, afterward, for an extremely prolonged period, she simply stopped posting on her blog. She has restarted posting on her blog only when I relaunched my blog in 2021 where not a single dishonest or incorrect word is written; the time of her becoming active on the blog almost perfectly coincides with the launch of my blog. During the intervening period, she simply went quiet on all such matters. I have the record of that Twitter message available, and I am attaching the screenshot below.

After concluding that experiment in 2015, I switched to Xanax and then Alp (Alprazolam). I switched to Alp in 2020, and Alp started to produce some acceptable results, and I was finally able to enjoy some 6 to 7 hours of continued sleep. However, when I launched my blog in 2021 and after a year of writing on general issues, I eventually switched my attention to the parties involved in horrific levels of corruption here in Pakistan in late 2022 or early 2023, my sleep medications started to fail badly and my dependence on sleep medications started to increase rapidly. As I have written in a few of my other posts that certain parties have been talking inside of my head and some have been holding proper dialogues, hence, when my sleep medications started to fail badly, some voice inside my head shouted loudly that send Zeshan Haider an email daily and your sleep medications will start to work again. That voice also stated that it is Zeshan who is now somehow not letting you fall asleep and keeping you awake. If you would like to get some sleep, send him an email. Until just a couple of months ago, I had been sending him daily messages to get sleep medications to work, and I am attaching a screenshot of my Outlook sent folder to prove that not a single message bounced from his email address. Zeshan Haider was pronounced dead owing to some heart complications either in late 2016 or early 2017, and it is Microsoft Outlook’s policy that they delete dormant or unused accounts after 2 or 3 years. If he has been dead since 2017, then why exactly is his account still active after 8 years of dormancy? Whenever I used to send him a message asking for some sleep medication-related assistance, all of a sudden, my sleep medications used to become active.

When it comes to Zeshan Haider’s existence, as I have stated in the previous paragraph that now Zeshan Haider will not let you sleep, hence you need to send him daily emails. The problem of occurrence of medical problems owing to a desire to contact a once best friend dates back to at least 2019. Although people all around me had told me that he had been dead since 2016 or early 2017, however, someone writing in handwriting identical to his handwriting kept connecting with me on Instagram and showing me drawing samples signed using various different names with handwriting identical to Zeshan Haider’s handwriting. Hence, by 2019, despite every other person’s insistence that he was dead, I became convinced that he was alive and living in hiding. Therefore, I sent him a message in 2019, which never bounced. Then on June 10, 2023, I sent him another message to send him birthday wishes, and right after I had sent him that message, I developed severe problems in my left hand. My left hand became completely numb and I developed quite pronounced pain in my left arm. I have both the emails in my Sent Items folder and I am attaching copies of those emails. As he had started to use language laden with profanities when he was enrolled at King Edward Medical College, therefore, I wrote one of those messages in a manner similar to the language he had started to use when he was enrolled at King Edward. Hence, owing to the rather explicit nature of the profanities, I am blacking out certain words from those emails. Nevertheless, those emails prove that contacting him in the last 7 years has had extremely bad to somewhat acceptable results, as well. Whereas these sleep doctors and psychologists keep telling people to change their ambient environment and start using melatonin or 5-HTP to get sound sleep.
